Dear Members of the RSU #4 School Community,

On March 31, 2023, we will be doing our annual district wide lockdown drills throughout the day at each building with Central Office Administrators, members of the Sabattus Police Department, Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department, State Police and the Kennebec County Sheriff's Department observing our practices and procedures. It is important for us to continue to partner with our local responders to refine, improve and assess our preparedness plan. The feedback from the experts is invaluable in keeping our students and staff safe in case of threats to our school communities.

Our staff and students engage in a variety of drills throughout the school year. The district has a district-wide Safety Committee that meets throughout the year to review the RSU 4 Emergency Plan, address safety concerns and bring suggestions to continue to improve our processes and procedures. Safety is always a top priority. We are working to improve our building security through installing Verkada card systems, replacing and installing cameras both inside and outside and reviewing our Emergency plans and preparedness.

We will continue to work hard to make sure our learning environments are safe places for students and staff and to implement emergency procedures to make sure that we are prepared if an emergency occurs. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact me at katy.grondin@rsu4.org.

Thank you,

Katherine Grondin
